Supporting women farmers means unlocking opportunity – not just for individual farmers, but for families, communities, and global food systems.
Around the world, women make up a large share of the agricultural workforce, yet they often have less access than men to land, tools, finance, and training. When that gap is closed, the impact can be transformational.
Research from the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) shows that if women had the same access to productive resources as men, yields on their farms could increase by upto 20-30%. This could raise agricultural output in developing countries by 2.5 -4% and reduce global hunger by 12-17%.
In real terms, that could mean feeding an additional 100-150 million people.
At Ubuntu, we work with smallholder farmers to provide training, quality farm supplies, mechanization and support so they can grow more food, and strengthen their incomes.
Because when women farmers have the resources they need to succeed, the benefits reach far beyond the farm-strengthening families, communities and food systems.
